Kingsley Edge, king of kink himself, wants Mistress Nora to write a training manual to instruct his other professional Dominants how to take better care of their clients. But Mistress Nora can't put pen to paper without churning out a sexy short story and Kingsley's training manual quickly turns into true tales of her adventures with her favorite clients.

A female submissive who can't orgasm.

A male Dominant too scared to do kink with his blind wife.

A rock star with a secret.

A vanilla gay woman with an embarrassing little problem.

A male switch with an itch for more than just pain.

These are their stories.

I’m going to keep this review short like the stories are.

We get to see Nora do what Nora does best which is get in to people’s heads and help them realize their potential.

The Case of the Acting Actress

Nora helps a natural sub realize what her real needs are and how she can experience an orgasm even without her first sexual partner.  We get to see Sheridan in another light which is fun.

The Case of the Diffident Dom

Nora helps a married couple find their true needs by bringing back the Dom to the man who just wants to take care of his wife.  This was a sweet insight into a truly loving marriage that just needed a push to get both partners where they truly wanted to be.

The Case of the Reluctant Rock Star

Nora gets to release a hidden submissive.  She has a lot of fun in this one and we get to see more of how clearly she sees through the facade.

The Case of the Secret Switch

Swoon…  Nora and a certain special someone we all know and love…  and no not Søren because that man is in no way shape or form a switch.

The Case of the Brokenhearted Bartender

Nora helps a woman open up in more ways than one..  LOL

Overall this is a nice teaser to tide us over until The Mistress releases at the end of next month.

Wrecked – Shiloh Walker – 5 stars

The Blurb:

Previously titled WRECK THIS LIFE

In the nineties, Abigale Applegate and Zach Barnes were the most beloved sitcom child stars in the world. Then they grew up and left Hollywood behind…

Whatever happened to Abigale Applegate?

She’s been wondering the same thing.

With her Hollywood dreams long gone, Abigale now has a nice, neat, uncomplicated life—until the day her perfect fiancé needs to talk. Dumped, a little more than shattered, and totally confused, Abigale turns to Zach, her best friend since forever, to help her pick up the pieces. He does it with a gift—a copy of Wreck This Journal. She can vent her frustrations, and sketch out a new plan. Zach just hopes he’s part of it. Because he’s been in love with Abigale his entire life.

When the journal falls into Zach’s hands, he discovers Abigale wants a new man. And fast. Nothing more than a hot distraction. Zach has a strategy, too. He’s going to be that man. It’s his last chance. Abigale might be out to shake up her life, but Zach’s out to reinvent it. Now, all he has to do is convince Abigale that life can go as planned.

My Thoughts:

I’ve been anticipating this book since I saw a tidbit on Shiloh’s website back in June or July of 2012.  I pre-ordered it back in August and tried to be good and not beg her for a copy.  I was quite proud of myself for not entering every contest I saw for an ARC of this as I was trying to not be greedy and get all the books… Yes, I was trying to be good for once in my life and dear lord the wait for this one about killed me especially as she kept putting snippets out as the release date got closer.  On release day I even gave away a few copies while I was being good and finishing up some review titles.  Well I am happy to say that the book was worth every torturous second I waited and man oh man is it hot.

Once Abigale left the world of Hollywood and ventured out on her own she only wanted to be normal.  To her being normal meant having a plan and controlling everything around her until in reality she finds she’s been living a lie.  She gets dumped by her fiancé and thinks that all she needs to do is plan a new future.  She’s used to having her friend Zach there to help her and when he shows up to help her pick up the pieces of her life she starts to notice him for the amazingly sexy man he is.  She’s shocked and torn because I mean this is her best friend right. You shouldn’t want to jump your best friend’s bones, right?  She ends up agreeing to having an affair with him to scratch an itch and do something she’s never done before but as expected things don’t go down the path she thought.  She has a lot of facing her own fears to do in this but I liked that under all the fear is a really strong core that loves life even though she really wasn’t living it.

Zach has always loved Abigale.  He’s contented himself with being her best friend even though watching her date, fall in love with and getting engaged to a man he knows isn’t right for her about kills him.  While he hurts for her being dumped at the same time he wonders if this is the only chance he will have to get her to see what they could have together.  When he sees that she wants to have a torrid affair he offers to be the man who gives that to her but isn’t as willing to let her know he isn’t playing for a quickie but is looking for the real thing and all of her.  His fear of losing her actually gives us the tension that runs through the book as he holds back key parts of himself from her which she senses but can’t put her finger on.  He’s such an amazing man that I kept wanting to yell every time he has a chance to really lay it on the line with her but doesn’t.  Some of the things he says to her that truly tell her how he feels without saying the words she really needs to hear were just sigh worthy and I can see why anyone would be lucky to have him.

I’m going to leave this review a bit short on all the specifics because you need to read this and fall in love with them like I did….  by reading their story and all the ups/downs that comes with it.

Thanks again Shiloh for giving me another great story to wrap myself up in for a short time.  This one will definitely end up on my re-read list if I ever need a really sweet, true love story.  I really hope you get to tell the stories of his siblings as Zane and Sebastian would be amazing to read.

Wolf Nip (Granite Lake Wolves, #6) – Vivian Arend – 4.5 Stars

Wolf NipThe Blurb:

Cat got your tongue?

Tessa Williams is looking to make her mark outside the family business, and the unusual landlocked paddle wheeler she spots in Haines, Alaska, strikes her as the perfect location. Only the owner is being difficult, refusing to sell. Still, she’s sure that replacing her written queries with a little in-person charm is all she’ll need to shortly have her Eco-tour B&B on the road to success.

Local wolf-slash-owner of said vessel, Mark Weaver, isn’t hanging on to the landmark building out of spite. There are more reasons for holding back the sale than are easily explained on paper. A face-to-face meeting to resolve the matter only confounds it—when Mark recognizes Tessa as his mate.

But she’s a cat…and cats don’t do insta-mates.

The sexual attraction between them isn’t in question, just everything else. He wants her. She wants twue wuv. His wolf can’t figure out what the holdup is. Her cat thinks the entire situation, and the pack, are rather amusing.

Somewhere in here is the beginning of a beautiful relationship—if they don’t drive each other mad.

Warning: One hyper cat, one laid-back wolf. Inappropriate use of permanent markers, and a heaping side dish of cat/dog jokes. Shenanigans (read: nookie) in front of a roaring fire. Spiced liberally with sarcasm. Enjoy!

My Thoughts:

I adore this series and this entry was a fun addition to it.  We have glimpses of our past pairs and a fun new entry in to the Granite Lake pack.

Tessa is just wanting to do something that shows she can complete something and contribute.  I got the initial impression that even though she is a responsible adult she feels like a failure in life.  She’s flighty and has her “Squirrel!!” moments but means well when she gets started.  She has decided to try to purchase a paddleboat that she can then make in to a eco-friendly resort for those who want to explore the wildness that the area has to offer.  She runs in to a bit of a snag when she meets the man who owns the property and can’t sell it to her.  She’s attracted to him and wouldn’t mind just having a little fun with no strings attached.  After all she is a cat and who needs the whole insta-mate thing that wolves have.

Mark is something else.  I adored this wonderful man who just wants to do the right thing by his grandfather and start to have a real career/life.  He’s always floated from temp job to temp job with the unfortunate luck of always being let go just when things seemed to be going his way.  We meet him as he gets let go yet again …  I just wanted to cuddle him (ummm well to be honest more than just cuddle) and make things better but hey he gets the whirlwind of Tessa blowing in to his life.  She’s just what he needed from both a personal and professional aspect.  His wolf recognizes this whirlwind as his mate but he ends up having to work really hard to understand her in order to have her feel like he really loves her and not just a fluke of fate.  He’s such a sweet guy with what he does for her even after the lava bean incident.  Trust me when you read that you’ll choke on anything you might be eating or drinking then burst out laughing.

I did love the slower build-up for them but cheered when someone makes Tessa open her eyes to what is really going on.  Tessa is not weak and fits in perfectly with the wolves we all love.

And to finish this one:

Beautiful Scars – Shiloh Walker – 4 Stars

January 19, 2013 Purchased, Read in 2013 0

Beautiful Scars

Shiloh has a knack for bringing characters who have major flaws and issues to light.  Both of our leads have problems but under everything is a love that has been simmering for years hidden behind friendship and distance.

I just have to start by saying – Marc is a complete and utter ass.  Ok that’s out of the way, we can move on and explain why you’ll still fall in love with him and why Challi has always loved this amazingly frustrating man.  He’s an amazing musician who is back in his hometown for a brief respite before doing what he does best and running back away.  He’s convinced that he is somehow only able to hurt those closest to him and keeps avoiding the people who love him and know him best for fear of driving them away.  He’s got to go to a party and his previous arrangement has decided to leave him the morning of the event to go after something that could be a real relationship rather than an itch scratch arrangement.  He visits his sister who runs a respectable escort service to get someone to act as the buffer for him at the event and that is where the story takes flight.

Challi has always known she loves Marc, truly deeply adores this man with all that she is including all his flaws.  She has always buried it except for 3 disastrous times she asked him out.  Unfortunately for her his inability to see what was under his nose caused her to settle for a man who isn’t even worthy of mentioning by name.  This jerk leaves her at a time where she needed him and this has left her extremely scarred and doubting her own self-worth.  She has shadows that haunt her both physically (not telling you why physically as it plays a part in the amazing transformation Marc helps her through) and mentally.  She hears that he needs a date for this party and persuades Shera to let her do this.  When the two of them spend time together again it erupts in to an amazing night that ends with Marc doing his trademark foot in mouth.

I’m not going to give away the rest as I think you need to go out and read this one to see a beautiful story of love and healing for two very flawed individuals.  My only wish was to see more of them in the future but at the same time I loved the way it resolved and wanting more is just testament to how Shiloh can draw you in to loving her characters.

Blind Destiny – Shiloh Walker – 4 stars

October 17, 2012 Purchased, Read in 2012 1

This one is going to be quick just because I know I’m a huge fan girl of the Grimm’s Circle series.

I have been waiting for Luc to get a HEA since we first met him.  Did I expect his HEA to come in the form of Sina…  Ummmm  no but then Sina has always been a bit of a scary bitch.  Luc has suffered centuries of loss and longing for love but has such a great heart that you truly want him to find someone for his own that can love him yet push him in return.  In this story we have two people who have suffered great losses and yearn for someone to complete them.

Luc is sexy…  blind…  kind… but damn does the man have a naughty side that I adored.  I loved how he finally realized he could have what he wanted with Sina and went for it with all his heart and soul.  I was saddened by the step he almost took but that is what she needed to finally get her head on straight and make the move she had been dying to do for centuries.

Sina..  finding out about her past was heartbreaking and disturbing.  She’s not a nice woman but you can understand what drove her over the edge originally and the fact that fear of being a consolation or substitute for the real thing kept her from letting Luc in.  She pushes his buttons like no one else but then again he keeps her so close to the edge all the time that turn about is fair play…  🙂

Again I said this would be quick but go grab it and read…  the shower scene alone is such a tease and hot hot hot.

Down for the Count – Christine Bell – 4.5 stars

October 15, 2012 Purchased, Read in 2012 0

What can I say other than a huge huge thank you to Fatin and Lillie for getting me interested in this book by once again tweeting all sorts of good info about it.  Oh and isn’t that cover just absolutely gorgeous…  🙂

I have to say I liked Lacey but man oh man did Galen do a number on my heart. He’s sexy as all get out plus wonderfully kind to the woman who holds his heart. Did he know this when the story began??? Nope but when he finally realizes it does he go after what he wants…

They have been sniping buddies for years but you know what that usually means.. Unrequited love love love…

She’s humiliated at her wedding reception by walking in on her new husband having sex with one of her only friends in the world (oh yeah also happened to be one of her bridesmaids..) but she doesn’t let that stop her from uttering one of the funniest things I have read in a long time..

Just trust me you’ll love this quick read for the many LOL moments but also for the heart behind the heat between the leads.

Go grab it!!!!

Meet the Kowalskis – Shannon Stacey – Contest

September 24, 2012 Carina Press, Purchased, Read in 2012 5

In honor of my 100th post I have decided to talk about the wonderful series of books by Shannon Stacey that immerse you in the Kowalski family.  I happened upon this series due to a wonderful Goodreads reviewer who nicely put some quotes in her reviews.  I will have to say this quote from Exclusively Yours is what got me started thinking I needed to read them:

Joe reached into the back pocket of his jeans and pulled out a folded sheet of spiral notebook paper. “Here’s a list of things you’ll need. I jotted it down in the parking lot.”

Keri unfolded the paper and read the list twice, trying to get a sense of what she was in for.

BRING: Bug spray; jeans; T-shirts; several sweatshirts, at least one with a hood; one flannel shirt (mandatory); pajamas (optional); underwear (also optional); bathing suit (preferably skimpy); more bug spray; sneakers; waterproof boots; good socks; sunscreen; two rolls of quarters.

DO NOT BRING: cell phone; Blackberry; laptop; camera, either still or video; alarm clock; voice recorder; any other kind of electronic anything.

She had no clue what it meant, other than Joe wanting her half-naked and unable to text for help.

And this quote from Undeniably Yours made me run out and get the ones that were out there at the time:

It was a little overwhelming, even though they were a very likable bunch of people. Like agreeing to learn the doggy paddle and being shoved off the high-dive board. And to keep things interesting, somebody told Bobby, Kevin’s youngest nephew, the baby could hear stuff and he was determined to make his new cousin his BFF in utero. It was a bit disconcerting having a kid randomly tell bad jokes to her stomach. Like now.

“Why did the weasel cross the road?” he yelled at her belly button. “To prove it wasn’t a chicken!”

Then he laughed so hard he almost fell over. He was a cute kid, she thought, and then it hit her—a little over seven years from now, she might have one just like him. Some faceless, nameless boy with too much energy and the knees almost worn out of his jeans, telling jokes to crack himself up. Maybe, if they were lucky, he’d look like his daddy, dimples and all.

I fell in love with the family and the series after reading the first one and haven’t turned back.  I love the quirks and emotions that Shannon brings out of the characters and hope you fall in love as well.

The series consists of 4 books that are out right now and 2 more due this year that I am counting the days on.

Series in order and all were rated 4 stars:

Exclusively Yours – Joe and Keri’s story – What happens when you have to go back to your old hometown and try to get a story out of the man who’s heart you broke?  You’ll love this one for the great intro to the family but also how much the main pair truly are to one another.  I loved this second chances story.

Undeniably Yours – Kevin and Beth’s story – What happens when a one-night stand results in a pregnancy noone expected due to a condom failure?  You’ll love how much Kevin steps up to the plate and how much both of them go thru to get to the ending that is incredibly *sigh* worthy of.  He’s such a great man and she’s one heck of a lucky woman.

Yours to Keep – Sean and Emma’s story –  What happens when telling someone you are engaged to a man who doesn’t know he’s yours comes back to haunt you?  In the case of Emma she gets incredibly lucky to land Sean.  Of course this is the book where our beloved “magic penis” makes an appearance and if you read the series for nothing else that one quote will be worth it.  I loved watching a crush become more than either of them ever expected.

All He Ever Needed – Mitch and Paige’s story – What happens when you meet the one you were meant to be with when you aren’t ready to?  I loved watching this story play out as a man who loves life as a nomad meets a woman who finally has decided to plant roots somewhere.  These two were fun to watch as neither was looking for love but were willing to scratch each others itch for a short no-strings affair.  They are both wonderful people and this sets up the next story in the series…  which I cannot wait for!!!

Coming Soon:

All He Ever Desired – Ryan and Lauren’s story – I’m looking forward to learning more about their history and watching another Kowalski find true love.

All He Ever Dreamed – Josh and Katie’s story – After seeing Josh and Katie in All He Ever Needed, I am really looking forward to this one.  There is some serious denial on his part and serious attraction on her part that when it comes out will be incredibly powerful to read.

Now on to the fun stuff…  I’m giving one lucky person their choice of either a $15 Amazon Gift Card or the Kindle editions of the first 4 books in this wonderful series.  Please use the Rafflecopter form below to enter and good luck!!
