About Eve Devon

Eve Devon writes sexy heroes, sassy heroines & happy ever afters...

Growing up in locations like Botswana and Venezuela gave Eve Devon a taste for adventure; her love for romances began when her mother shoved one into her hands in a desperate attempt to keep her quiet during TV coverage of the Wimbledon tennis finals!

When Eve wasn't consuming books by the bucketload, she could be found pretending to be a damsel in distress or running around solving mysteries and writing down her adventures. As a teenager, Eve wrote countless episodes of TV detective dramas so the hero and heroine would end up together every week. As an adult, still hooked on romance and mysteries, she worked in a library to conveniently continue consuming books by the bucketload, until realizing she was destined to write contemporary romance and romantic suspense herself.

 My Thoughts:

This was a really well done story where you knew who the main bad guy was but there is enough other stuff going on that you know you have to be missing something.

Brooke is living a half-life in France after being kidnapped and tattooed up by a psychopathic stalker.  She used to be this bright open soul but now in many respects is hiding from life and unable to move on from the nightmare.  While she originally felt something for her former bodyguard she now believes herself to be worthless because of the damage this man did to her.  She’s lost her voice and the love of her life, music, and when Cameron comes back in her life and advises that the man has been let loose after only 5 years in jail she’s tired of being weak.  She tries to avoid feeling anything for the man who seems to think of her only as a job or even worse as something to feel guilty about or pity for but she’s bound and determined to get her life together.

Cameron has a lot to feel guilty for (not really but).  In his eyes if he hadn’t of been such an asshole to the woman who was rapidly stealing his heart she wouldn’t have gone out and then been abducted.  He’s kept himself away from her because in his eyes he’s the reason she was taken and put through the hell she survived.  He found her, rescued her and then proceeded to keep an eye on her from a distance.  He’s always known where she was but felt that after how badly he failed her he didn’t deserve to be near her.  He’s strong but conflicted during most of this about how to handle keeping her safe while putting her directly in the path of the man who wants nothing more than to finish the job he started.  As he does this he’s forced to confront exactly what she means to him and what he really wants/needs in his life.

The story was fast-paced and yet I didn’t feel shorted in either the suspense or romance departments which I greatly appreciated.  I’m happy to host a stop on the tour for Eve and Entangled Publishing.  I really hope you give this one a try as even though they provided a copy to me for review I can tell you I enjoyed it very much.
