The Blurb:

Never challenge a cowboy in the courtroom…

Surveying the proposed site for a high-end golf course should have been a breeze for spunky Landscape Architect Sophie Smith. But when this born-and-bred city girl is suddenly—and quite literally—swept off her feet by a sexy cowboy on horseback, she realizes that the country life has some serious (and seriously steamy!) possibilities. That is, until she finds out exactly who her smokin’-hot wrangler really is.

Cowboy and Tribal lawyer Jack Lodge is desperately trying to block the development. And if that means playing hardball—and being every inch the shark lawyer—so be it. But Sophie is a distraction he didn’t expect. A distraction that makes his blood burn.

Two different worlds. Two opposing sides. And when they finally give into the exquisite temptation, the consequences will shake the foundations of both of their lives…

My Thoughts:

Sophie just wants to get approval from the Tribal Council for her golf course design.  She  knows what she has planned will work beautifully with the space her client has purchased she just needs the right people to sign-off so she can get some much needed business for her uncle’s firm.  She also loves to paint and draw just for the sake of art but is very happy designing beautiful spaces for people to enjoy.  She’s swept off her feet by a man on horseback when she just happens to stumble in on their photo shoot but is shocked by the primal pull towards him from the moment she ends up on his horse.  As she gets to know him this pull becomes an obsession even though he opposes her planned golf course.  She’s got major issues with her family and self-worth but doesn’t put up with much from this very powerful man.  She’s a city girl at heart but this passion is something she has never felt before and even more important the fact she feels like she is a part of a family or something bigger becomes something she realizes she can’t live without.

Jake has been burned before by a woman who decided the city was more important than him or their daughter.  He doesn’t want to be drawn to another woman who won’t stay but there is something about Sophie that pushes all his buttons.  Does he act like a caveman at times with her? Oh yeah…  was it still sexy? Yep.  He’s got some issues to work through on his own but when he decides he wants her no matter what it takes it becomes worth it.  He’s ruthless in protecting his people but nothing he does or says is really mean to her.  He really does like her design but can’t support the company she is designing this for or the placement near the tribal lake.  His daughter plays a big part in softening them both up but ultimately they both make decisions that work and seem fast but not completely implausible.

While there are things that happen in this that made me roll my eyes a bit it really didn’t throw me out of the story.  The two characters are very clearly written and what decisions they make are reasonable even if some of the elements were questionable.  Thanks to and Entangled Publishing for giving me the chance to read this in exchange for my honest review.
