She refuses to be owned.
Alexa Parrino escaped a life of servitude and survived danger on the streets to become one of the most trusted, influential people in Sector Four, where the O’Kanes rule with a hedonistic but iron fist. Lex has been at the top for years, and there’s almost nothing she wouldn’t do for the gang…and for its leader. Lie, steal, kill—but she bows to no one, not even Dallas O’Kane.
He’ll settle for nothing less.
Dallas fought long and hard to carve a slice of order out of the chaos of the sectors. Dangers both large and small threaten his people, but it’s nothing he can’t handle. His liquor business is flourishing, and new opportunities fuel his ambition. Lex could help him expand his empire, something he wants almost as much as he wants her. And no one says no to the king of Sector Four.
Falling into bed is easy, but their sexual games are anything but casual. Attraction quickly turns to obsession, and their careful dance of heady dominance and sweet submission uncovers a need so deep, so strong, it could crush them both.
I am going to start this with a quick checklist for you:
- Have you read Beyond Shame? If the answer is no then go get it and read it before you start this one.
- Do you have ice, a walk-in freezer, snowbank or other cooling option available to you? No… then you have to find something cause you’ll need it.
- Comfy place to read without the possibility of falling on the floor? Again if the answer is no… find somewhere
- Drool rag/tissues? No.. get them both cause you’ll need them.
- Chocolate or other item as a comfort food?
- Are the people within hearing distance of where you are reading above the age of 21 or at least able to hear you go WTF and OMG repeatedly?
Ok if you have all that out of the way then you are ready for this awesome ride. Lex and Dallas are something else plus all the sightings of Ace (SIGH), Cruz (becoming a sigh), Bren (sigh) and the other fun characters we met in book 1 are worth every minute of this amazing read.
I’m going to try to be good and not give away a lot so this will be a fairly short review but here we go.
We know from Beyond Shame that Lex is a very strong woman who has a weakness for Dallas that she tries to keep in check. She does a ton of good for both the gang and others within Sector 4 by acting as a sort of procurement specialist for items that not only provide her money but also do good for the denizens. She’s not afraid to try anything sexually which makes her a common partner for Noelle/Jasper but she also plays a bit with the head of the Sector, Dallas. She pushes him more than anyone but as you find out more about her background and what she was trained to become the reasons for this massive love/hate game between them becomes glaringly apparent. I loved seeing more of her behind the kick-ass woman she shows to the public and appreciated her extreme loyalty to Dallas even at the expense of self.
Dallas is just WOW. He’s all powerful but this veil of power hides an amazingly beautiful man who just isn’t as in control as one would believe. You know from Beyond Shame that there is more than just a simple attraction between he and Lex but watching the game between them get taken up a notch very early in this story just blew me away. He’s very willing to let the outside world create their own misguided opinions of him but has trouble letting his walls down completely in private. The moments when he and Lex connect are incredibly powerful both from a sexual standpoint and even more on a personal level. Trust me you’ll have to cool off quite a few times in this book from both parts of their relationship. This is an incredibly compelling pairing that makes you want to keep reading even when you need to sleep.
I’m fascinated by the world Kit Rocha has created and am drooling over the next two books. Dear god book 4 has the potential to blow this one out of the water from what teasers we got in this one. I can’t wait for more.
Oh… and since I didn’t mention this earlier…. there is a 6way in this book.. Yeah I said 6! Now mind you that was what had me chomping at the bit because I just couldn’t wrap my mind around it but honestly Lex and Dallas without the sex was the most compelling part of the story. They are just WOW!
I must bow down to the Mistresses Bree and Donna for this amazing partnership in Kit Rocha. They RULE!!
Thanks to the author for providing me a copy in exchange for my honest review. They know they can send me anything they ever want from either this incarnation or Moira Rogers.
